Georgia work in the 16 days of activism!
Georgia participated in the 16 days of activism, from November 25th until December 10th, 2016. During the 16 days of activism, the fund "Sukhumi" joined the campaign. The campaign was launched by the showing of a small video, created by the Women Support Center of Kutaisi on November 24th and revolved around the topic of violence with the beneficiaries.
This was followed by the distribution of campaign material to all attendees where the face of the campaign was the basket team “Kutaisi – 2010”, the winner of the Super League of Georgia. On the first day of the campaign, actions were held in Kutaisi and was attended by a variety of people, including representatives from NGOs, local government, Gender Advisory Council, teachers, youth clubs, women activities and more. Furthermore, there were a specific strategy to use athletes in the promotion of the elimination of violence in Georgia, which was especially directed towards young people.
Totally Georgia held 150 activities for the 16 days of activism, and up to 10 informational media sources aired the campaign. Additionally, the campaign was joined by youth clubs from 6 cities, and vast amounts of activities were held. There were also cycles of workshops held with youth and women on conflict, where the focus was to teach them the choice of the right communication and management of conflict. 12 psychological meetings were held and included 156 women. On December 3rd, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, information meetings were held in Kutaisi, and in the framework of the campaign 4 performances regarding domestic violence were acted out, to disseminate information about this topic.
All of the activities were done by the Georgian partners in order to raise awareness of violence against women and domestic violence.
